Here was my workout for today:
Notice the commentary about the middle section:
"Fast finish long runs teach to run fast while tired."
As I've mentioned, I've had a few aches and pains lately so I've been cautious not to push it so much that I might get injured right before the race, but I tried to follow this as best I could.
This phrase made me think of all the work you are doing now in the hospital and praying that it will pay off soon! This time there now is teaching you to run fast while tired....
This training plan that I've followed really has been the hardest plan I've put in practice for training. The week of May 25- 31st, for example, was an intense week.
- race 9.3 miles on Sunday (the training plan did not talk about my attire, but perhaps I could have gotten extra credit for carrying a wand and holding up a ball gown the whole way?)
- rest on Monday
- 13.5 miles on Tuesday
- 6 miles on Wednesday
- 8 miles Thursday
- 6 miles Friday
- 20 miles Saturday...
It seemed at times that I just did not get a break or much time to recover before jumping into another workout.
Over this past weekend, I have been thankful that some of the aches and pains have been subsiding (not fully- but I'll take what I can get.)
I ran 5 on Saturday and 13 today,
and on both runs, I kept praying for RELIEF for you too.
From the FB post heading into the weekend, it seemed that you all were needing relief too. It's been a long road, and I know you wish you could have a bit of time to catch your breath.
(BTW- I sure think of that expression differently in light of all this!)
I will always remember you telling me that Jens never had a day off from CF.
I am praying for that day off to come soon from all the things that still need attention in the hospital.
I am rooting for you and cheering for you with each mile....
praying for recovery...
praying for relief....
praying for rest....
12 days left until the marathon!
87% there....
