Countdown

On my training schedule, it displays a countdown tracking the days until the marathon.
When I snapped this photo tonight, it showed that I had
55 days, 14 hours, 29 minutes and 42 seconds
until the marathon.
I wish that I could magically get you one of these
so that you would know the countdown until the transplant,
but it is not going to be that way.

So, I thought it would be appropriate to share some of my favorite prayers on surrender...
these are my hope and prayer for you this night...

A Prayer of Surrender
-Richard Foster
Today, O Lord, I yield myself to you.
May your will be my delight today.
May your way have perfect sway in me.
May your love be the pattern of my living.
I surrender to you my hopes, my dreams, my ambitions.
Do with them what you will, when you will, as you will.
I place into your loving care my family, my friends, my future.
Care for them with a care that I can never give.
I release into your hands my need for control, my craving for status, my fear of obscurity.
Eradicate the evil, purify the good, and establish your kingdom on earth.
For Jesus’ sake,
Amen.

PRAYER OF ABANDONMENT TO GOD

Father, I abandon myself
into Your hands.
Do with me what You will,
whatever You do, I will thank You,
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only Your will be done in me,
as in all Your creatures,
and I'll ask nothing else, my Lord.
Into Your hands I commend my spirit;
I give it to You
with all the love of my heart,
for I love You, Lord,
and so need to give myself,
to surrender myself into Your hands
with a trust beyond all measure,
because You are my Father.
Charles de Foucauld

Lord, I know not what to ask of You.

You alone know what my true needs are.
You love me more than I myself know how to love.
Help me to see my real needs, which may be hidden from me.
I dare not ask for either a cross or a consolation.
I can only wait upon You; my heart is open to You.
Visit and help me in Your steadfast love.
Strike me and heal me; cast me down and raise me up.
I worship in silence Your holy will.
I offer myself to You as a living sacrifice.
I put all my trust in You.
I have no other desire than to fulfill Your will.
Teach me to pray. Pray Yourself in me.
Amen
