Costumes encouraged...

Last night I went to an event at Title 9 Sports, a fun shop here near Green Lake that sells women's clothing.  The event was promoting a run in May called the Emerald City Run.

My godson Liam saw this flyer earlier this year and said to his mom, "I think this has Emily's name written all over it."  Seriously, he is right! I am so excited about this and love that they are encouraging costumes.  They are taking the Wizard of Oz theme and running with it (literally) because this year is the 75th anniversary of the movie.

75 years along the Yellow Brick Road

I showed this picture to the race director last night from the Knoxville marathon of my hilarious friend Kim dressing up as Glinda the Good Witch blowing bubbles as I ran by. When she sent me the email with the title "There's no place like Boston!,  I could not pass up the chance to keep the theme going and to dress up as Dorothy for Boston last year.

And you know the rest of the story with that day...

So for the Emerald City Run next month in May, I will be borrowing Kim's Glinda dress and running in that for this to all come full circle. Word has it that the medals at the end are going to be "Medals of Courage" and the race director's husband is dressing up as the Cowardly Lion himself.

So, some people say "it's all about the shoes."
some folks say, "it's all about the dress."

and I even saw an article that said "It's all about the pants..
(US vs. Norway in the 2014 Olympic curling competition- go figure!)

And with costumes encouraged along the way sometimes, I just want you to know that I commend your choice of flexible pants as your attire each day now.  As you are packing your lives up right now, I know these are going to be first in the suitcases and readily accessible.  I am praying that you would be prepared to wear them each day (even after multiple washes on some days because you have worn them out) and praying that as you put those on that they will fit a little better each day.
