Abby, as a teacher, you are very familiar with the strategy of chunking from teaching it for reading comprehension. Jens- here is an official definition (even though you probably already know what it is and probably already use this frequently but may just not have the official term tagged to it.)
I was thinking about this idea of chunking and applying it to my long run today.
"Group information miles into manageable units."
I love to combine my runs with my list of things to do for the day for a time of running errands (literally). I borrowed my friend's running backpack filled with all the things I needed on my trek (store returns to take care of, wallet, etc.)
So after Taylor's lacrosse game (go team!)....
I ran from the game to Target to take care of a return. (3.19 miles)
From Target, I ran over to Bank of America (2.49 miles)
Then, it was off to the Seattle Tile company to return some tile samples. (1.34 miles)
Whew! The backpack sure was lighter after that!!
Then I started the trek home and saw some kids selling some goodies at a bake sale (and I happened to know them from Knoxville- SERENDIPITY!!!) (2.5 miles)
On the way home, I ran through the gardens by the zoo (2.5 miles)
and finally home where I shared my cookies with Taylor and Anna. (2.25 miles)
3.19 + 2.49 + 1.34 + 2.5 + 2.5 + 2.25 =
Total: 13.27 miles
I so enjoyed my run today because I had been able to chunk it and break it up into all these manageable bites today. There was no pressure on time and I just took it one step at a time.
And as I did this, I could not think of anything better to pray for today on your behalf
that you all would be able to chunk the next steps
as you wrap things up in Nashville this week
and as you tie up so many loose ends.
One step at a time.
Go team!

Em,
Another mark of the Spirit. I've had to literally "chunk" the packing process into rooms to make sure my attention stays. Last week, I did the hall closets one night, my bathroom the next, took a day off from packing to focus on lesson plans one night, etc.
Thanks for the hope/believe necklace. I actually wrapped it around my wrist, so I'm wearing it in plain sight as a bracelet. The circle reminds me of the people surrounding us, too.
Love,
Abby
