I went on a run early this morning with my dear friend Elizabeth. I have been cautious about pushing it too hard because my knee is not at 100%, but I thought I would give it a shot today to speed up a bit. As she was helping me try to pick up the pace, I was feeling a bit sluggish and struggling to keep up. When I feel like this, I return to my most instinctual prayers of "HELP ME" and "THANK YOU".
As you may remember me sharing with you before, I love the quote from Anne Lamott when she shares: “Here are the two best prayers I know: 'Help me, help me, help me' and 'Thank you, thank you, thank you.” I have used this in many a race as my mantra to keep me going.
As I was gutting it out a bit this morning, I felt like it was powerful to remember this for you as you enter into a time when you may feel a bit sluggish at times and when you are struggling to keep up.... (with whatever may be around the bend- family stress, apartment hunting, wondering where you will be on the lung transplant list, breathing treatments, just the very chore of taking things one day at a time when there are a million things to do on your list...)
I am praying that these words will come to you when you need them... and that you will know that you are heard and upheld...
